JAMMU, Mar 21: Reiterating the demand of separate Dogri channel and compulsory inclusion of Dogri in school and college curriculum, National Panthers Students Union (NPSU) urged upon the Government to address this issue without any delay.
Talking to media persons here state president of the Union Virender Singh recalled that Dogri was included in the 8th Schedule of Indian constitution after long struggle by the Dogras. He said that even till today, the Dogri language has not received its due share due to lackadaisical approach of the BJP legislators in the previous BJP-PDP Government. He said that the Dogri subject should be made compulsory in the schools and colleges curriculum and be taught from primary level to graduation level.
The NPSU leader said that the Dogras established J&K state. He disclosed that 70% of the schools did not teach Dogri subject and where it had been introduced, there was non-availability of the teachers. He lamented that advertisement for the posts of teachers and professors was rarely seen in the notification of SSB and JKPSC.
Virender Singh further emphasized the need to establish separate Duggar channel. He wondered that if there was Kashir channel for the Kashmiris and DD-Urdu for Urdu speaking people, then why Jammu Pradesh was divested of a separate Duggar channel to cater the need of the Dogras. He urged upon the Governor to personally intervene into the matter and facilitate establishment of Duggar TV channel as this was the long cherished dream of the people of Jammu region.
Rishi Badyal, Deepak Sharma and Asha Rani also accompanied the NPSU leader.
