JAMMU, Mar 3: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Meghdoot’ arrested a notorious thief and recovered stolen property worth several lakhs from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station picked up a suspect for questioning.
During questioning, the suspect broke down and confessed that he had committed theft in various areas of the Jammu city and surrounding areas.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Sanjay Gandotra, son of Ramesh Chander Gandotra, a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Digiana Jammu.
On his disclosure, police recovered one stolen mobile phone. The mobile phone was stolen few days back and a case under FIR Number 53/18 under Section 380 RPC in this regard was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station.
In addition to this, a number of ladies bags, one laptop, branded clothes and other articles valuing worth several lakhs were also recovered from the possession of the accused, which have been seized by Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
The arrested thief was involved in a number of theft cases and used to steal things by breaking window panes of the cars, which people used to park outside big showrooms situated in Gole Market, Green Belt, Apsara Road and Gandhi Nagar areas.
Further questioning of the accused is going on.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
