NIS, Parivartan Club lift Independence Kho-Kho Cup

JAMMU, Aug 30: NIS in the boys' section and Parivartan Club in the girls' section emerged victorious in the 5th Independence Kho-Kho Cup-2026, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Kho-Kho Association (JKKKA).

Both finals produced close contests, with the winners securing narrow one-point victories. In the boys' final, NIS scored 13 points to edge past Parivartan Club, which finished with 12 points. Anshu Bakshi of NIS and Anshu Chib of Parivartan Club gave impressive performances, displaying agility, quick reflexes and strong defensive skills.

In the girls' final, Parivartan Club defeated Kishtwar by 7-6 in another thrilling encounter. Ruchi Mala of Parivartan Club and Anandi Thakur of Kishtwar impressed with their raiding skills, stamina and determination.

The tournament was successfully coordinated by an organising committee comprising Sahil Angural, Sunil Sharma, Sidharth, Gourav, Yogesh, Jyoti Sharma and Pallavi.

Harvinder Kour, ZEPO, Department of Youth Services & Sports, was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. She appreciated the efforts of JKKKA in organising competitions that boost the morale of players and provide them with valuable competitive exposure. She also lauded athletes from far-flung areas of J&K for participating with enthusiasm.

BS Tirthi, CEO, JKKKA; Surinderpal Singh, Incharge, JEE/NEET Department, Shiksha Niketan School, Jammu and Ajit Singh, MD, AS Constructions, were the guests of honour.

Among the JKKKA office bearers and dignitaries present were Amrinderpal Singh, General Secretary; Pankaj Malhotra, Treasurer; Tarmeet Raina, Joint Secretary; Dhiraj Sharma, Chief Coach; Palbinder Singh and Rohit Bitta.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of trophies, medals and certificates among the winning teams and outstanding performers.
