JAMMU, July 28: The traffic on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was disrupted for about four hours after land slides at Kheri near Udhampur during morning hours today while three cattle were killed after a muddy house collapsed in remote Arnas area of Reasi today.
Official sources said that due to massive rain during the early hours today, land slides at Kheri blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at 7 pm. The rain disrupted the road clearance work for some time. The highway could be cleared at around 11 am. Some Shri Amarnath Yatra vehicles were also stranded for some time at this point.
Due to rain there was flood in river Tawi and several other nallahs. A portion of Udhampur-Pancheri-Saddal road was washed away due to flood in a local nallah. Several link roads in Ramnagar and Dudu Basantgarh area were also blocked. In Jammu city. the rain was not so heavy but Tawi was flooded with the heavy rain in the higher reaches including Udhampur, Chenani, Dudu- Basantgarh and Ramnagar area.
A report from Reasi said that one portion of Kutcha house of one Joginder Singh, son of Sobha Ram hailing from Gadi Gabbar village in Arnas was collapsed due to rain today. Three cattle including an ox and buffalo were buried alive under the debris. The family members escaped unhurt as one portion remained un-damaged. The police party and Revenue officials visited the site of mishap this afternoon.
