UP Govt to issue smart card driving licences

LUCKNOW, Oct 25:Uttar Pradesh Government today decided to issue smart card-based driving licences having biometric thumb impression and digital signatures.The decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here.The smart card-based licences would have digital signatures, biometric thumb impression and photograph of the applicants, official sources said here.The Cabinet also decided to provide subsidy for betel growers under �Paan utpadan protsahan yojna� for 21 districts, they said.
