Excelsior Correspondent [caption id="attachment_273040" align="alignleft" width="300"] Danish Rana alongwith Shakeel Ahmed Beig inaugurating Women Police Station at Gandhi Nagar on Wednesday.[/caption] JAMMU, Apr 8: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Danish Rana today inaugurated Women Police Station Jammu, which has been shifted from Canal Road to its old premises at Police Station Gandhi Nagar. IGP Jammu Zone was accompanied by Shakeel Ahmed Beig, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Udayabaskar Billa, SP South, Shiv Kumar Chauhan, SP City North, Harjeet Singh, SDPO South, SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Paramjeet Singh and others officers of the Police Department. IGP Jammu while speaking on the occasion said that the motive behind the shifting of Women Police Station to Gandhi Nagar is to provide better working environments to the police staff. "Crime against women shall be taken seriously and for this SHO Women Police Station has been directed to train lady investigation officers", he added. He also said that first priority of the police is to provide counseling avenues for both complainants and non-complainants and if necessary cases are registered and investigations concluded on its merit. DIG Shakeel Ahmed Beig said that the shifting of Women Police Station at Gandhi Nagar shall be more convenient to the general public as compared to its earlier location at Canal Road as Gandhi Nagar Police Station building has sufficient space available for proper functioning of the Police Station as well as for counseling purposes.
