SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and additional General Secretary of party Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal today said his party would never support communal forces in the coming elections of 2014.
Dr Kamaal said there are some communal forces in the country to divide its people for their political gains which added miseries to people and his party will never support such forces. “We will never support communal forces in the country,” he said, adding that last NDA Government in 2000 trashed the greater autonomy resolution of the 9th State Legislative Assembly.
Refuting some media reports that NC will support National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Narendra Modi, Dr Kamaal said he would never personally support NDA and Narendra Modi as NDA killed hundreds of people in Kashmir in 1990’s with the support of People’s Democratic Leader, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, while as Modi Government killed some 2500 Muslims of Gujarat in 2001.
Kamaal said, “I am of the firm belief that there is no meeting ground between Modi who is communalism personified and NC is the epitome of secularism. As they say ‘Never the twain shall meet’.”
Praising the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at Centre for being secular party of country, Dr Kamaal said peace, prosperity and development of a country was possible only in secular hands, which UPA and NC as a constituent of UPA maintained since 1947. “NC being a constituent of the UPA would go along with such a dispensation as we have done so for in the overall good of the country and State,” Kamaal said.
While replying a question, Dr Kamaal said NDA being communal party, their coming into power was hypothetical, as people will never chose these communal forces.
