Srinagar, May 18: Vijaya K. Rahatkar, Chairperson, National Commission for Women, Government of India, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, today. She was accompanied by Chairpersons of Commission for Women from various States and senior officials.
A delegation of volunteers from Vishwagram Trust, a Gujarat-based social organization, led by its Founder Sanjay Bhavsar, called on Lieutenant Governor.
The delegation briefed the Lieutenant Governor on their ongoing community outreach in the border villages of the Uri sector in Baramulla district. They shared details regarding their engagements with local youth and students, highlighting various creative activities being conducted across border schools. These initiatives include specialized workshops in filmmaking, music, arts and crafts, toy making, and interactive educational games.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the volunteers and the Trust for their dedicated efforts and impactful interventions in the border areas.
The Lieutenant Governor shared the transformational journey of Jammu Kashmir across various sectors over the past few years. He also spoke on key developmental milestones and flagship campaigns including the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, Vibrant Villages Programme and other ongoing socio-economic initiatives in the Union Territory.
Javid Ahmad Tenga, President, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry also called on Lieutenant Governor.
He was accompanied by Bashir Ahmad Naid, President, J&K Fruits and Vegetables Processing and Integrated Cold Chain Association.
Subsequently, a delegation of Badal Hockey Club Kashmir led by its President S. Harmeet Singh Sasan also called on the Lieutenant Governor.
GM Shaheen, President, J&K Janta Dal United (JDU) to also called on Lieutenant Governor and put forth the issues pertaining to promotion of tourism sector in the region.
