JAMMU, June 27: Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and incharge J&K BJP Department of Political Affairs and Feedback said that the campaign unleashed by National Conference (NC) on Domicile issue is going to boomerang.
In a statement issued here, today at Jammu, the BJP leader made it clear that “the laws and rules under Article 370 and 35A are a history now. Anyone barking upon those rules is simply trying to hoodwink the public opinion”.
Chrungoo was reacting to the Tweet of Omar Abdullah, NC vice president and the former Chief Minister of the State and Aga Syed Rehullah Mehdi, chief spokesperson of the National Conference in which the NC said that “domicile to outsiders is disempowering JK residents politically and economically”.
Chrungoo said that the leaders of National Conference (NC) should stand out as “exemplary” and leave hypocrisy now and prove their statements in this context. “I advise such leaders of NC to first dispose off their assets, land and properties in other parts of India and lead by example. You cannot have specific previleges for J&K residents at the cost of common Indians”. He added, “Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights and opportunities to all its citizens irrespective of region, religion, caste and gender. The biased and discriminatory set of rules under the erstwhile separate Constitution of J&K stands buried deep down the earth for good”.
The arguments put forth by the NC leaders in this connection demand that the politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen and other influential residents of the erstwhile State of J&K should immediately leave their land holdings, business share, lucrative jobs and palatial flats in other important cities and states of rest of India. “Even students from Kashmir engaged in educational, technical, professional and vocations trainings in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Jaipur and Hyderabad will have to wind up their pursuits as it is tantamount to divesting the local people of their political, economic and professional rights there”, he added.
Chrungoo further added that the leaders of NC, as usual, are trying to exploit the sentiments of the people in Kashmir and he advised them to ask their cadres not to apply for Domicile certificates as a first measure step and thus prove their sincerity and honesty”.
“Moreover, they should not propagate an illegal opinion that the PRCs are valid documents. These PRCs lost their validity on 5-6 August 2019 when Article 35A was nullified by the Parliament by a huge vote.
