Srinagar, Nov 20: A Special Police Officer (SPO) of a National Conference (NC) worker was killed while an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir police escaped unhurt in a two separate militant attacks in North and South Kashmir today.
Police said militants killed, Mushtaq Ahmad, Personal Security Officer (PSO) of a National Conference worker, Irfan Shah, of Karan Nagar Srinagar at Baramulla this afternoon.
Police said that Shah was having lunch at a local restaurant in Baramulla town of North Kashmir when militants this afternoon fired at his PSO who was waiting outside in his car.
The militants fired at the SPO from point blank range leaving him in a pool of blood. He was removed to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital where from he was shifted to SKIMS hospital for treatment. But he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, ASI Riyaz Ahmad Gania was fired at by militants at village Drussu in the South Kashmir district of Pulwama today. Ganai who is posted in SOG Srigufwara in Anantnag district was fired upon by militants but he escaped unhurt. The ASI also fired at militants from his service weapon but they managed their escape.
The ASI was on leave for past few days and was coming out of his relatives’ residence when he was attacked.
