Scores of senior NC functionaries, legislators, took out a rally from party headquarters Nawa e Subah towards Raj Bhavan, however, a large posse of police and paramilitary forces foiled the march and detained scores of leaders.
Addressing the rally, party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad sagar said that there is hopelessness and despair everywhere, “The incumbent State and Central Government’s alive on aggressive options but the situation requires de-escalation from all sides. The graveness of the situation calls for sincere engagement with all stakeholders in the State,” he said.
Additional general secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamal while addressing the rally said that the dispensation which is at the helm of affairs in New Delhi is inimical towards the special status of the State. “On one side New Delhi says that Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of India, but in the very same tone they want to desecrate the bond that connects Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India. The people of Jammu and Kashmir will stand against any such machinations that aim to fiddle with our special status,” he said.
District President Kulgam, Ab Majeed Bhat impressed upon Governor administration to expedite the investigation into killing of seven civilians in Kulgam. “Situation in south is extremely volatile. It seems that the writ of State Government is nowhere on the ground,” he said.
Provincial spokesperson and in charge Kulgam, Imran Nabi Dar, said that the mayhem that was unleashed at Kulgam the other day and the episodes like it don’t augment well for the peace to return to valley. “New Delhi is irresolute about the gravity of situation and if the current phenomenon of uncertainty persists it can morph in a much dire situation,” he said.
The rally which was bound to Rajbhavan was thwarted by the police who didn’t allow the demonstrators to proceed further.
