RAJOURI, June 13: Assailing PDP-BJP Government for reversing the process of development and impeding the odyssey towards peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today said that National Conference has launched a mass contact programme to highlight the wrong-doings of the anti-people dispensation.
“As a responsible opposition, we cannot remain mute spectators to injustice meted out to the people”, Mr Rana said while addressing a day long district level party convention at Rajouri.
He said National Conference has nurtured peace by offering most valuable sacrifices over the years and this hard earned atmosphere cannot be allowed to be vitiated by the elements, which have joined hands just for lust of power. “Otherwise there is nothing common between the two”, he said adding that their misadventure is costing the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh dearly.
“In such a deplorable scenario, how can we remain fence sitters and watch helplessly the developmental edifice falling apart like pieces and peace taking last breaths”, Mr Rana said and urged the party workers to grind up their loins for meeting this challenge, unfolded by the visionless Government, with resilience. He said the people had not mandated them to power to take them for granted and to leave them in lurch.
In this context, he referred to the performance inertia of the Coalition Government, which has resulted in public woes getting accumulated with each passing day. While utility services are not up to the mark, the Government has miserably failed to meet the demand on account of power supply during the ongoing scorching summer; he said adding that the condition of roads is worsening day by day. He said the PDP-BJP Government has miserably failed to put its act together and govern the state.
The Provincial President also exhorted the party workers to highlight public woes at the local levels during mass contact programme so that the administration is made to wake up and respond to the problems faced by the people.
State Vice President Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari also addressed the convention and expressed anguish over the failure of PSP-BJP Government in mitigating the sufferings of the people and pushing forward the developmental process, initiated on higher scale by the Omar led Government during the past six years.
State Vice President Th Kashmira Singh, former legislator, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed and senior leader Bashir Ahmed Wani also spoke on the occasion.
