NC, Cong equally responsible for prevailing mess in J&K: Mufti

Excelsior Correspondent
R S PURA, Nov 6: Patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mufti Mohammed Sayeed said that during the last six years National Conference and Congress have brazenly plundered state exchequer  and it was all due to misdeeds of both the parties that the Jammu and Kashmir has been plunged into unprecedented crisis.
Addressing a function at R S Pura, Mufti regretted that Omar Abdullah led Government has bulldozed the system of governance and eroded sanctity of democratic institutions just to enjoy power.
“Six years tenure of Omar Abdullah would be remembered as a period when all the democratic institutions were shamelessly bulldozed by the ruling elites just to enjoy absolute power”, he observed and pointed out that failure of State Government to conduct Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) elections reflects their dictatorial mindset.
He further added that Panchayat elections were conducted but the State Government created hurdles in Panchayati Raj Institutions in the State because those who were at the helm of the affairs were not interested to delegate powers. “Instead of allowing democratic institutions to strengthen in J&K, State Government has rather eroded sanctity of such institutions”, he said and added that Congress was equally responsible for such misdeeds.
Seeking support of every section of the society to establish a new system in J&K, Mufti said that PDP wants to script a new chapter in the political history of the State. “Power is not our only aim, we want to cement relations among all regions and sub-regions of the State”, he said.
Responding to the demand of the people to give adequate representation to Lobana Biradari, Mufti reminded that it was only PDP that has given adequate share to all communities. He especially mentioned that PDP had given representation to Sikh community by nomination Trilok Singh Bajwa as Rajya Sabha member and appointing Manjit Singh as minister in the Coalition Government.
Mufti also assured to give importance to border areas as far as on-spot recruitment is concerned. “Unlike present Government which has conducted on-spot recruitments only in some selective constituencies, PDP, if voted to power, would conduct on-spot recruitment on the basis of merits not with political considerations”, he assured.
In the function veteran leader Suchait Singh joined PDP and assured to work for the victory of party candidates.
Meanwhile, in another function with the efforts of Mohd Rashid Qureshi, former MLC, Adv Abdul Hamid Qazi, former Adv General, Adv Vinod Bakshi, former Dy Adv General, Adv Shakoor Ahmad, Adv R K Dogra, Adv Iqbal Hussain, ANadeem Akran Khan Adv Sushil Kumar joined PDP in presence of party patron,  Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
