JAMMU, Oct 28: The 6th Natrang Theatre Festival-2018 opened here today with Hindi play ‘Refund’-originally a Hungarian play written by Fritz Karinthy and directed by Sumeet Sharma.
The play was an unusual story which depicts one middle-aged man walking up to the Principal of his school and openly admitting that he was a failure in life because his teachers had not taught him well for which the school and its teachers should take the blame.
He also demands that the school should ‘Refund’ his entire school fees with interest.
The play takes an interesting turn when he demands that there should be re-examination for him in all subjects. He is determined to ‘fail’ the exam while the teachers are hell-bent on ‘passing’ him even after giving wrong answers to retain the prestige of the school.
He considered that he would take money back but he was outwitted by his teachers.
At end of play he has to return empty-handed.
The play carries a very important message for the society, it also questions, in a satirical manner that what utility our present education system provides us and what purpose it solves, if not making pupils capable of standing on their own feet.
The artists who performed in the play were Sumeet Sharma, Rajat Salgotra, Deepali Sharma, Jatin Sharma, Ujhwal Bandral, Sushant Singh Charak, Rahul Gupta, Udit Sagar and Sumit Raina.
The supporting staff included Neeraj Kant, Rakshit Arora, Gauri Thakur and Mohd Yaseen.
