Jammu, Dec 2 : ‘Aalav’ (The Call) a highly experimental and innovative play conceived, designed and directed by Asheish Nijhawan, an NSD Graduate, was featured here today in Natrang’s Sunday Theatre Series.
Sajal Mondol another product of NSD was the Technical Director of the play. The play has been devised in a quest for the alternative language of performance inspired from the approaches of ‘Butoh’ and Grotowasky.
The play unfolds before us the pathos of migrated and displaced people in a manner which does not require a single word to communicate with the audience as a lot of audio-visual imagery created by human bodies and sounds does the purpose, which is the beauty of this play. “This has happened, this is happening and this will happen” only these three lines used in the play very thoughtfully reveal its nectar.
Be it the situation of Kashmiri, Tibitian, Palestinian or the displaced migrants of any part of the Country even any part of the World, their plight and worries have common grounds, the tears which come from their eyes have some similar emotional stimuli, the terror which threatens them even in their dreams has akin relation.
This has been very aptly presented through the performance which was not just a Story but a thought which audience will carry with them forever.
Natrang actors who put a very heart rendering performance included Rohit Verma, Balwinder Singh, Uplaksh Kotwal, Ashwini Bali, Baljeet Singh and Shivam Manhas. Gaurav Jamwal and Syed Dildar also rendered their support. Lights were designed and executed by Sajal Mondol and Music was rendered by Asheish Nijhawan who also designed the Set of the play. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show.
