NEW DELHI, May 12: Chief Minister of Nagaland, T.R. Zeliang called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here today and discussed a wide range of developmental and administrative issues related to the State.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the priority being given to peripheral remote States like Nagaland by the Modi government and said that during the last two years the State has been able to address a number of issues as a result of cooperation extended by the Union Ministry of DoNER and the Government of India
Zeliang, who was accompanied by the Senior Ministers of his Cabinet, gave an update of the various ongoing projects under the Ministry of DoNER and offered suggestions for the same. He also referred to some of the new projects in the offing.
In a DO letter personally handed over by Zeliang to Dr Jitendra Singh, the Chief Minister referred to a project concerning “Construction of Road from Chuchuyimlang to Yali via Salulemang, Longra, Yangpi – 25 km Phase-II” which, he said, was already included in the priority list. The road is of economic and social importance as it connects three districts of Mokokchung, Longleng and Tuensang, he said and requested that the project be sanctioned by the Ministry of DoNER as a special case.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured Zeliang that the Ministry of DoNER as well as the Government of India are keen to move all the developmental projects in Nagaland on a fast track. He said, he is also aware of the requirement of an airport and a medical college for the State and is in touch with the Ministries of Civil Aviation and the Ministry of Health respectively, to work out various options.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction that over the last two years, there has been relative peace and normalcy in Nagaland which has helped the progress of development activity in the State. He also assured the Chief Minister that he would, in near future, plan a trip to Kohima and directly interact with the State Administration.
