NEW DELHI, Sept 2: Chief Minister of Nagaland T.R. Zeliang called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here today and discussed the DoNER Ministry’s NLCPR (Non-lapsable Central Pool of Resource) projects in the State and also his scheduled visit to Malaysia beginning tomorrow.
Dr Jitendra Singh informed Zeliang that the DoNER Ministry is trying to take up all the priority projects mentioned by the State Government in the preference given by the State and those of the projects which are still pending, will be taken up soon. He said, there are some technical issues relating to some projects which are also sought to be cleared soon.
In order to overcome the constraint of funds and expedite the construction of roads, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed, some of the rural roads are being handed over to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to be taken up under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The DoNER Ministry will, however, continue to do the follow up for expeditious completion of these road projects.
Dr Jitendra Singh also informed the Chief Minister that he had discussed with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda the planned medical college to be set up in Nagaland for which the Health Minister was very positive in his response. He suggested to the Chief Minister to direct his Resident Commissioner based in New Delhi to follow up the issues related to Nagaland State in different Union Ministries for their speedy implementation.
Zeliang informed Dr Jitendra Singh that he will be leaving for Malaysia tomorrow to attend an international meet and he will be accompanied by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu. He said, he looks forward to engage the delegates from other countries to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Act East” policy.
