JAMMU, Mar 7: RS Pura police foiled a murder attempt with the arrest of a criminal along with a sharp edged weapon (khokhri) near Chohalla area.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, a team from RS Pura police station raised a naka near Chohalla and intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered a sharp edged weapon (Khokhri) from the possession of the accused, who has been identified as Arjun, son of Chand, a resident of Chohalla.
During preliminary investigation it came to fore that the accused was on his way to eliminate Ashwani Kumar, son of Chuni Lal, a resident of Chohalla owing to some old rivalry. To dodge the police he tried to cross the police checking at Chohalla on foot, but his nefarious designs were foiled by the active cops of RS Pura police station.
A case under FIR Number 34/16 under Section 4/25 Arms Act has been registered against the accused at RS Pura police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura police station Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh and SP Headquarters RC Kotwal.
