JAMMU, Sept 16: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that Government has formulated a plan to construct mechanized multi-level fully automatic parking facility at Gole Market in Gandhi Nagar.
With floor area of 18250 sq meters, the proposed parking facility would have five floors with a total parking capacity of 615 cars.
The project estimated to cost Rs. 75.43 crore is being constructed under Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP).
This was informed by the Minister while addressing a high level meeting of officers here today.
Commissioner/Secretary Tourism and Culture Atal Dullo, Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu, District Development Commissioner Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) Tufail Mattoo, Secretary JKCCC Ajaz-ul-Rehman, Principal Chief Conservator Forests besides other senior officers of PHE, ERA, R&B, Forest and Revenue were present in the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that the multi-level parking would have automated storage and retrieval system, separate drop off and pick up transfer areas, automated mechanical system to lift the car and transport it to a pre-determined parking space in the parking system.
The meeting was further informed that about 100 two-wheeler parking space has been proposed on ground level, commercial space with facilities like escalators for third level, while garden area is proposed on terrace level with public toilets and eateries/cafeterias.
Similarly, public pedestrian plaza is proposed near existing temple and at entrance to commercial area and terrace garden.
The Minister said that the work on the project would be started by March 2014.
Later, Mr. Bhalla reviewed the progress on transfer of land acquired for ‘Jammu Ropeway’ at Pir Kho, Shahbad and Mahamaya.
While reviewing the progress, the Minister asked the officers to speed up the process in resolving the land acquisition cases of the people for early start of project. He said that Phase-1 of the project would be started from Peerkho to Mahamaya Park in 1137 meter area and phase-II from Mahamaya Park to Shahbad in Bahu Fort over 453 meter length at an estimated cost of Rs. 47crore by JKCCC.
Mr. Bhalla informed that a Kolkata based firm, Damodar Rope Way Constructions Ltd and a Turkish firm are jointly going to start construction from next month while work on yet another Cable Car Project at Shiv Khori shrine in district Reasi is also going to commence shortly to facilitate the pilgrims.
The Minister said that Government has placed Rs. 1.86 crore at the disposal of Collector, Land Acquisition, Jammu for speedy clearance of land compensation of the Bagh-e-Bahu cable car project.
