JAMMU, Dec 24: An emergency meeting of Migrant Teachers Welfare Association (MTWA) was held today under the chairmanship of its president Ramesh Raina wherein the issues confronting the migrant teachers were discussed.
The meeting took serious exception to some canards being spread about the migrant teachers and the camp schools.
It said that some people are trying to malign the image of the migrant teachers and feeding wrong information about functioning of camp schools.
It said some agencies involved in tarnishing the image of the migrant teachers hide the facts by presenting a wrong picture before the Government and people. It said the role of migrant schools like Durga Nagar, Jagti, Roop Nagar and Bohri is remarkable and there is heavy rush of students for admissions. These schools have a good strength of students and they have also shown excellent board results so far.
The meeting said the role of migrant school Durga Nagar is over 400 students  and being in a rented building the teachers have shown encouraging results as there were over 80 percent board results in 10th and 12 th class.
Regarding the migrant schools of Shastri Nagar and Satwari the Association said that they are situated in non migrant bastis and the meeting made a strong plea to Government to shift these schools to migrant bastis like Gangyal and Janipur as was done in case of migrant schools of Bakshi Nagar which were shifted to Bohri and Durga Nagar and since then they where running satisfactorily.
