JAMMU, Oct 3: Following exclusive highlight of worst condition of Government Super Speciality Hospital (SSH), Jammu, by EXCELSIOR, Government today ordered attachment of Dr AD Singh, Medical Superintendent (MS), SSH Jammu, to Director Health Services, Jammu and gave additional charge of the post to Dr Manoj Chalotra, MS, Chest Diseases Hospital, Jammu.
The order in this connection was issued today by Dr MK Bhandari, Secretary to Government Health and Medical Education Department. The order said, “in the interest of patient care and administration, Dr Manoj Chalotra, MS Chest Diseases Hospital, Jammu, shall look after the work of post of MS, SSH Jammu in addition to his own duties till further orders and Dr AD Singh looking after the post of MS, SSH Jammu shall report to Director, Health Services, Jammu for further posting”.
Pertinent to mention here that EXCELSIOR yesterday highlighted the worst condition of Super Speciality Hospital Jammu and how the concerned authorities were ignoring all this despite well versed with the conditions.
However, the condition did not improve today also as patients and their attendants have to face another hot and humid day with no arrangement of fans while the AC plants have been closed on account of their maintenance work since yesterday.
Sources told EXCELSIOR that various patients, who were given dates for various kinds of diagnostic tests have to return to their homes, as due to non-functioning of AC plants, X-Ray machine, City Scan and Ultrasound machines could not be operated, as they need normal temperature to run but due to non-functioning of AC plants, the temperature has risen in the rooms, where these medical equipments have been installed.
“Moreover, Operation Theaters remain closed due to non-functioning of AC plants and even a single surgery could not be performed”, sources said, adding, patients in ICU, CCU and various wards were seen waving hand-made fans to get some relief from the hot and humid weather, as there are no arrangement of electric fans in the hospital while the building of the hospital has no windows for ventilation.
When contacted, Chief Engineer, Mechanical Department, Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, Deepak Razdan said that they knew that patients are facing badly due to non-functioning of AC plants but he want to clear that there are no fault in the plants, they were running but due to long pending maintenance work the cooling was not proper and they were getting complaints from patients as well as staff of the hospital in this connection, so we decided to urgently start maintenance work.
He expressed hope that there will be some relief for the patients tomorrow, as their engineers are on the job and will complete work on one of the plants till tomorrow morning.
