JAMMU, Aug 25: Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas, today distributed free LPG connections among BPL families at a function organized by Hindustan Petroleum at Village Phalian Mandal in Block Marh.
The MP was accompanied by former Minister and MLA Marh, Ch Sukhnandan Kumar. More than 100 free gas connections were distributed on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the MP said that Central and State Governments are committed to provide every basic amenity to the rural population. It is a great responsibility of the NDA Government to provide basic amenities to the weaker section of the society, so that we can make them strengthen in every section.
He further said that providing free gas connections in the name of the female head of a household under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a step to empower women, besides protecting their health. He further said that scheme envisages to provide 8 crore free LPG connections to poor families across the country in 5 years.
On the occasion, Sarpanch of Bhadrore, Raghubir Singh, Ex-Sarpanch, Nehal Singh, Sukhdev Sharma, Jagdish and prominent people of the area were also present.
