KATHUA, June 11: A motorcyclist was killed, while his pillion rider was seriously injured, after the two wheeler, on which they were traveling was hit by a speedy matador at busy Chadwal Chowk today.
The deceased motorcyclist has been identified as Kuldeep Kumar, S/o Ram Krishan of village Mandian Hiranagar. He was a constable in JKP and was posted in Billawar.
The injured has been identified as Kamal Kumar Sharma S/o Vijay Kumar Sharma of Ward 5 Hiranagar.
According to police the duo was on their way to Chadwal on motorcycle and after reaching the Chadwal Chowk a speedy matador came from behind and hit the two wheeler. The matador ran over the police cop resulting in his instant death.
The matador ran away after hitting the two -wheeler as there was no traffic cop or any other policeman in the Chowk. This has generated a lot of public resentment in the area.
The people called PCR Kathua and a police party came which shifted the dead body to Sub District Hospital Hiranagar. The body was handed over to family members after postmortem. The cop was married 45 days back. The injured has been shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment where his condition is stated to be serious.
The Raj Bagh Police has registered a case under relevant Sections of the law.
