JAMMU, Feb 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Government at the Centre is committed to double the income of farmers across the country. There is no dearth of funds and the Central Government will take all the measures necessary to enhance their produce and income.
This was stated by Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, DDC Chairman, Jammu while speaking at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra held at Panchayat Laswara in Bishnah Tehsil, of district Jammu today.
While reiterating the Union Government’s commitment to double farmers’ income, he asserted that it is the joint and synchronized efforts of J&K UT and Central Governments that will go a long way in raising the living standards of nation’s food producers to optimum by doubling their income in consonance with the mission visualized by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for the nation’s farmers. He mentioned that about 29 projects worth Rs 5013 crore related to agriculture and allied sectors are identified by KVK and theses projects will boost the income of farmers in the UT.
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, organised the programme on Multi-Stake Holders Agriculture cum Animal Clinical Camp under SCSP Project entitled “Augmenting Livelihood Opportunities for SC community of Bishnah Block” at Village Laswara. The KVK Jammu is working under the leadership of Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor and guidance of Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu.
In the programme, DDC Chairman, was the chief guest while Dharmindra Kumar, DDC Bishnah was the Guest of honour.
Bharat Bushan said that such programmes are being organised with an objective to create mass awareness about different schemes of Agriculture and allied sectors along with providing on spot solutions to various field problems and treatment of various diseases of milk animals.
He urged the farmers to use modern implements, adopt latest farming technology besides making use of hybrid seeds only for increasing the productivity of their crops.
The DDC Member Bishnah briefed about the various activities being carried out by KVK Jammu for the last two years that are helpful in attaining expertise in various disciplines of farming.
At the outset, Dr. Punit Choudhary, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Jammu read the welcome address.
During the programme, expert lectures were delivered by Dr. Kamlesh Bali, Arun Jalal, Navdeep Kour, Dr. A.K Pandey and Dheeraj Gupta. An exhibition depicting various technologies were also organised on the occasion.
