SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Following an organized plan for the execution of an elaborate 120-day project at Srinagar International Airport with stakeholders working in unison, the renovation of runway has successfully completed much before the scheduled time, with minimal disruptions in flight operations.
Under the able supervision of Director, M/s MM Shawl Engineers and Contractors Private Limited Srinagar, Majid Muzaffar Shawl, the team of experts crafted a programme leading to the successful completion of the project in record time.
The project involved the upgrade and maintenance of the always busy runway in the most effective way possible, without affecting flight operations.
Director of the MM Shawl Engineers and Contractors Private Limited Srinagar said, “The site of the said project was handed over to the company on April 21, 2014 and after working on the basics, we commenced work on June 28, 2014 and within three months the work was complete”, adding that due to the criticality of runway, company kept operational work during night time even in the month of Ramadhan to minimize disruption of flights.
The challenge before the company was to complete renovation of 31,000 sq mts in 120 days, but the determined and dedicated team headed by Majid Muzaffar Shawl created history by completing the same project in just 85 days.
He further said that for the maintenance of the quality, Asphalt zipper was imported from USA for zipping of the area. High strength material with weather proof qualities was first time used in such a prestigious work, he added.
