Mixed response to BJP bandh

JAMMU, Dec 22: The 48 hour Jammu bandh call of BJP in protest against the re-induction of MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo into Council of Ministers evoked a mixed response on the first day today.
Being it a weekly off day on Sunday, the markets remained mostly closed on the day. However in various markets of city and its outskirts some shops were open while the transport also plied normally in various areas.
However total bandh was observed in Udhampur town today. The BJP activists led by Pawan Khajuria took out a Mashal rally in the town in the evening to protest against re-induction of Mr Kitchloo into Ministry.
The BJP activists held demonstrations in various parts of the city and its outskirts.
The irate Party men raising slogans against the Government demanded CBI probe into August 9 attack on minorities in Kishtwar.
The BJP activists staged a demonstration at Gandhi Nagar and protested against induction of Mr Kitchloo into Ministry. The Party activists also held demonstrations at University road, Ambphalla Chowk, Udhampur, Kathua, Billawar, Basohli, Hiranagar, Reasi and Vijaypur.
Bajrang Dal activists held a protest in the city and took out a procession from Shakti Ashram to Kachi Chawni where effigies of Chief Minister and Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo were burnt.
At Reasi, the Party activists held a demonstration from Chowk Chabutra to Bus Stand Reasi.
At Vijaypur the demonstration was led by Party vice president Chander Parkash Ganga and the protestors torched the effigies of Chief Minister and Mr Kitchloo.
Reports coming from Kishtwar said that the minorities in the town observed a bandh today in response BJP call.
Meanwhile Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while extending full support to BJP has demanded CBI probe into August 9 Kishtwar attack on minorities.
