JAMMU, July 1: A protest demonstration was held at Jagti Township under the chairmanship Shadi Lal Pandita, president, Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) today.
The protestors expressed shock that during the two -days visit by the Union Home Minister to Kashmir Valley recently he did not announce any thing in favour of displaced Pandits.
Pandita, cautioned the B.J.P Government at the Centre that ignoring Kashmiri Pandits and depriving them of their fundamental rights and permanent rehabilitation in the Kashmir Valley will prove counter productive for them. He demanded settlement of all the KPs in three districts of the Kashmir Valley i.e in Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag districts.
Raj Kumar Tickoo while addressing said that presently an amount of Rs. 13,000 is being provided as monthly relief to a family comprising four or more souls which is not sufficient to make their both ends meet. He demanded that the cash relief be enhanced to Rs. 25,000 per month per family as the migrants are unable to bear the expenses of education of their wards.
Sunil Koul another protesting youth said that the remaining posts under Prime Minister’s employment package need to be filled up by offering employment to at least one member of each migrant family.
He also demanded more  10,000 posts be sanctioned for migrant youth immediately.
Kashi Nath Bhat said that 3000 posts be sanctioned for those youth who could not continue their studies beyond Matriculation due to financial hardships as class IV.
Mithan Pandita demanded compensation for the property lost in Valley after exodus.
Raj Kumar Bhat demanded that the religious places and shrines of KPs which have been damaged and their properties encroached be restored.
R.K. Raina demanded restoration of migrants land and property grabbed by land mafia during last 30 years while P.L. Thasoo stressed on release of balance ex-grtia for gutted houses of migrants besides compensation to those migrant families whose houses were damaged over the years due to rain, snow and floods.
Inder Ji Labroo demanded that the authorities should launch an on spot special recruitment drive in Police Department in the migrant camps and non camps.
