Might comeback in IPL as a mentor: Warne

Kolkata, May 24:

Spin legend Shane Warne feels that there is a possibility in future that he may return to thecash-rich Indian Premier League fold as a “mentor” since he thoroughly enjoyed his time as skipper during his first three seasons at the Rajasthan Royals.

“I am not sure about playing but may be one of those mentor roles would work, I reckon,” Warne told the IPL commentary panel during a live-chat today.

The spin wizard admitted that he missed the time he spent at Rajasthan Royals, whom he guided to title in the inaugural year of IPL.

“I miss the time I had in IPL. The four years I spent with Rajasthan Royals, I really enjoyed, made some great friendships,” Warne said from London.

“IPL is an amazing tournament, the atmosphere, the passion of the supporters, it’s really is very amazing tournament to play and share knowledge with all the different players,” he waxed eloquent about the cash-rich league.

Warne seemed a wee-bit surprised at Dhoni’s decision to field on such a good track.

“I am very surprised that MS Dhoni chose to bowl first after winning the toss. I am really very surprised because in a big final, it’s always nice to have runs on the board upfront. Chennai have been really defending well with Dhoni marshalling his troops well. So it’s very surprising to see him field first,” Warne concluded. PTI
