JAMMU, Apr 2: Center for Human Rights and Values of MIER College of Education organized a Guest Lecture on the topic “Role of Police in promoting and protecting human rights”.
The speaker on the occasion was Sunil Sharma, I G Human Rights Commission, Jammu.
The function was presided over by Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER Group of Institutions.
HoDs of various departments of the college along with other faculty members and students of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, which was followed by a presentation of bouquet to the guest speaker by Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER. Formal welcome address was presented by Dr PL Koul, OSD MIER.
In his welcome address, he highlighted the accomplishments and different positions held by Sunil Sharma in his 31 years of service.
Dr Koul also shared various activities of the center including offering of a Certificate Course on Human Rights and Values.
Sunil Sharma, in his address enlightened the august gathering about the concept of Human Rights. He emphasized that human rights are inherent, inalienable and universal and it is our duty as well as right to uphold them.
A formal vote of thanks was presented by Monika Rathore, coordinator CWS.
The programme was conducted by Shubam Soni, a B Ed student.
