MIER organizes certificate distribution function

JAMMU, Nov 22: MIER College of Education organized certificate distribution function for the course on Human Rights and Values.
The chief guest of the function was Sarita Chouhan, Commissioner Secretary, Department of Higher Education.
Dr Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College presented welcome address and said that the course is all the more relevant in the modern context in which violation against the weaker sections of the society are escalating day by day, he exhorted. He also welcomed the 7th batch of new students for the course.
Monika Rathore, Coordinator of the add-on program gave a brief introduction of the course and elaborated upon its objectives.
Sarita Chouhan addressed the gathering and said that the days are gone when only academic degree courses were enough to grow in life as now the times have change and students have to polish and enhance their skills through add-on courses in addition to their academics. This add-on course would help the students to understand and advocate for their rights, she said and emphasized that every human being is entitled to basic rights and they are ensured by the Government, however; people should be aware of their rights and fight for them, especially women.
“We should also respect the rights of other human beings to create an egalitarian society and highlighted Article 21 which emphasize on “Right to Life and Right to Personal Liberty.”
A group dance on the theme “Suno Meri Awaj” was presented by the students of the college which was highly appreciated by the audience followed by a short act on the theme “Unity of Religion”.
Later, the students who had completed the course successfully were awarded certificates by the chief guest. The participants also shared their experiences during the course.
Dr Adit Gupta, Chairman MIER presented a memento to the chief guests as a token of gratitude.
The program was ably conducted by Diksha Kumari, a B.Ed Special Education student semester 3r, while Dr Rohnika Sharma, HoD UG Department presented formal vote of thanks.
