MIER holds workshop on Preparing Effective Lesson, Teaching Plans

JAMMU, Apr 12: MIER College of Education organized a workshop on the theme “Preparing Effective Lesson and Teaching Plans” for the faculty at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) under a MoU signed between the two institutions. The resource persons were Dr. Bharti Tandon, Associate Professor, and Dr. Bindu Dua, Assistant Professor, PG Department, MIER College of Education.
In the welcome address, Dr. Mekhla Sharma, Assistant Professor, Computer Science in Engineering introduced the resource persons.
The workshop was divided into two sessions. On the commencement of the workshop, Dr. Tandon said that a lesson plan is an instructor’s road map of what students need to learn and how it will be done effectively using different teaching pedagogies and aids. She explained the components, essentials and approaches of lesson planning. Dr. Tandon comprehensively discussed with examples the constructivist 5E approach of lesson planning, its concept, principles, phases and role of teacher in this approach. She also discussed the relevance of preparing a teaching plan, its nature, and components.
Following which Dr. Dua explained the three domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy namely cognitive, affective and psychomotor. She also highlighted the modifications in the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Moreover, Dr. Dua discussed the Regional College of Education, Mysore’s (RCEM) approach of lesson planning, its design, structure and steps with examples.
In the second session, hands-on activity was done regarding preparation of a lesson plan using RCEM approach in their respective teaching subjects in addition to preparation of teaching plans. The resource persons shared samples of lesson and teaching plans and provided templates for the same. During the session, participants interacted with the resource persons and clarified their doubts and queries. The learners enthusiastically participated in the workshop and appreciated the initiative
The workshop was conducted under the guidance and support of Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER and Dr. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET.
