Srinagar, Feb 11: The Meteorological Department today issued weather advisory in Kashmir as fresh western disturbance is likely to affect the State and its adjoining area from this evening which will lead to heavy to moderate snowfall.
The western disturbance, according to the MeT, are likely going to persist till Tuesday afternoon. “Moderate to heavy snow or rainfall is expected at widespread places of the State, while moderate snowfall is expected in Ladakh’s Kargil district,” read the advisory
The night temperatures across Kashmir dropped to subzero due to clear sky. However, this evening it was raining and snowing at few places in Kashmir.
The might temperature in Srinagar dropped by two degree Celsius and settled at a low of minus 1.8 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 11. 9 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund in South Kashmir registered a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 12.0 degrees Celsius.
The night temperature in Kokernag, in South Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 10.8 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in North recorded a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature was 12.9 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam recorded a low of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius last night while the maximum temperature was recorded at 9.0 degrees Celsius.
The mercury at the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir settled at a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at 4.2 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg was the only place in the Valley where the night temperature dropped last night.
Kargil was the coldest recorded place in the State as the mercury there settled at a low of minus 15.2 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was recorded at minus 2.0 degrees Celsius.
The night temperature in the nearby Leh town settled at a low of minus 10.2 degrees Celsius last night while the maximum temperature was recorded at 3.0 degrees Celsius.
