JAMMU, Feb 24: Thirty members raised issues of public importance in the Legislative Assembly during the Zero Hour today.
Balwant Singh Mankotia urged establishing Medical College in Udhampur district. Rafi Ahmed Mir called for posting of adequate staff in the Pahalgam Hospital. Jugal Kishore sought upgradation of PHC Dansal as SDH in view of huge rush of patients and large catchment area.
M.Y. Tarigami sought ST status for Chopan community. Ashok Kumar demanded adequate transport service in Ramban area to avoid accidents. Ashwani Sharma sought special recruitment of border youth in police and para-military forces.
Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani demanded strengthening of PDD workshop at Budgam for speedy repair of damaged electric transformers. G.M. Saroori and Mohammad Sharief Niaz demanded adequate compensation for the victims of different incidents in Doda district.
A.R. Veeri sought check on sale of sub-standard pesticides in Valley. Peer Mansoor Hussain and Bharat Bushan urged for adequate funding for speedy execution of PHE schemes in their constituencies. Master Lal Chand demanded filling up of vacant posts of teachers in newly upgraded schools in Bani.
Baldev Sharma raised the issue of shortage of Government ration in the far-flung areas of Reasi and clearance of outstanding carriage charges of Ponywalas who lift ration to different far-off locations. Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat demanded special electric line for SDH, R.S. Pura.
Krishan Chander Bhagat raised the issue of labourers who was dis-engaged by the Road Construction Company in Chenani and demanded their re-engagement. Ch. Zulfikar Ali sought compensation for the kin of two youth who were killed due to drowning in river in his Constituency. Jagdish Raj Sapolia demanded posting of Specialist Doctors in Basohli Hospital.
Harshdev Singh demanded ST status for Koli community. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat demanded steps for the regularization of Daily Wagers/Contractuals in various departments. Mohammad Ashraf Ganai called for upgradation of PDD infrastructure in his constituency.
Er. Rashid urged the Government to reconsider the cases of those detained on ordinary charges and facilitate their early release from the prisons. Charanjeet Singh urged the Government to regularize the Safai Karmcharies of Kathua under SRO 64, who are on sit-in Dharna for many days. Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta demanded early holding of Municipal elections in the State. Aijaz Jan demanded filling of vacant posts of teachers in his constituency;
Peer Afaq Ahmed, Rafiq Hussain Khan, Mir Zahoor Ahmed, Hakim Mohammad Yasin and Abdul Haq Khan also raised issues of public importance pertaining to their constituencies.
