JAMMU, May 22: The State Government has extended the maternity leave period for contractual female employees from 60 days to 180 days.
Following the Governor’s nod an SRO in this regard was issued today by the General Administration Department.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by proviso to section 124 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor is pleased to direct that the word `60 days maternity leave without honorarium’ appearing against sub-rule (iii) of Rule 10 of the Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Appointment Rules 2003 shall be substituted by `180 days maternity leave without honorarium”, says the notification on SRO-141.
Further, the enhanced period of maternity leave shall also be applicable to such contractual female employees who have not completed 60 days of maternity leave on the date of issuance of the notification.
