RAMBAN, Dec 31: To boost and bridge the relation between police and  general masses  as well as channelize the energy of youth  , District Police Ramban organised  a Cricket Tournament  at  District Police Line ground Chandrog  Maitra  in district Ramban on Monday.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG)of Police Ramban -Doda- Kishtwar Range, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani was the chief guest, while Deputy commissioner Ramban, MH Malik  and commander II sector RR Brigadier  Bhubesh Kumar were the guest of honour on the occasion and  tournament was organised under the supervision of  Superintendent of Police Ramban, Javeed Ahmed Mattoo.
In the inaugural function, DIG declared the Tournament open by releasing peace birds pigeons in the sky. While Speaking on the occasion, DIG, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani said Police Department has organized various sports and other cultural and social event throughout the State under the  civic action programme . He stressed upon the officers to reach out to the people and ensure cordial police public relations.
To boost the sports activity in area by providing a good platform to youth of the area,  DIG directed SP Ramban to organise more such events in near future so that youth can avail the opportunities for development of their sports talents.
Earlier, SP Ramban focused upon the motive and objective of organising cricket tournament at Ramban and gave the detail résumé of the event. He informed that 48 teams from different areas of the district are participating in the tournament and cash prize of Rs 50000 will be awarded to the  winner team and Rs. 30000 to runner team in final match.
He also stressed upon the prominent citizens of district to work in liaison with  police for  maintaining peace, brotherhood and tranquility in the district.
SP Traffic Dr. Haseeb Mughal , CO IRP Virender, CO CRPF, ASP, CEO, CMO,DIO, Superintendent of  District Hospital, AD Fisheries, Dy Registrar Cooperative, Tehsildar Banihal, Officers of Police and other departments and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
