Jammu, Oct 14: The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir branch office organized a mini marathon namely “Run for Quality” in the University premises to mark the celebration of “World Standards Day” (Manak Mahotsav), here today.
About 495 participants from various institutions including Central University of Jammu, GDC Samba; Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jammu; Government SRML School, Jammu; Government Polytechnic College, Samba; Indian Oil Corporation Limited; SKUAST Kashmir; Ranbir Higher Secondary School and people from corporate sectors.
The run began from the main gate of the University covering a distance of 3-km along the ring road, CUJ. The main purpose behind this run was to raise awareness about the importance of good health and well-being which is also the 3rd Sustainable Development Goal adopted by the member countries of the United Nations. The day was celebrated under the theme of “Shared Vision for a Better World”.
After the run, a felicitation ceremony was held for the winners, which was presided over by Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor CUJ. Joint Director of BIS, JKBO, Nisha Bura explained in her address, the importance of utilizing good quality products and services that conform with national and international standards.
The programme was organized by the Dean Students’ Welfare CUJ, wherein ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh was the chief guest, who along with Prof Sanjeev Jain and DSW Prof Rasal Singh distributed the certificates among the winners.
The event was attended by other dignitariesTilak Raj, Head and Director BIS JKBO; Dr Ritu Bakshi, Cultural Officer CUJ; Dr Vinay Kumar, ADSW, CUJ and Pankaj Attri, Joint Director JKBO.
Dr Sujata Kundan, Coordinator BIS Club, Central University of Jammu coordinated the event. The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Nisha Bura.
