Manyal for collective efforts to overcome challenges in health sector

JAMMU, May 3: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal   today called for collective efforts by all stakeholders to bring visible changes and overcome challenges related to the health sector.
The Minister stated this during an introductory meeting with senior functionaries of Health Department at Government Medical College (GMC).
Principal/Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal, GMC, Dr Sunanda Raina, Administrator, Associated Hospitals, GMC, Dr Shubhra Sharma besides Medical Superintendents, HoDs of various hospitals, concerned officers of the allied agencies attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister asked the concerned for ensuring better medicare to the patients.
“Health sector is the top priority of the Government ” the Minister said, adding that ‘several initiatives   have been launched to improve infrastructure and to provide better healthcare access to the people’.
Manyal directed for round the clock availability of at least one senior consultant, administrator or concerned medical staff member in emergency wards. He further asked the senior consultants to be available on call.
The Minister stressed on optimal utilization of available resources and man power to cater the heavy rush of the patients both at emergencies and OPDs across the State.
Emphasizing on adopting humanitarian approach, Manyal asked the concerned to put in concerted efforts in a synergized manner to meet the high expectations from the medical fraternity.
The Minister assessed the availability of medical supplies and directed the concerned for ensuring adequate supply of medicines and other surgical appliances in the hospitals.
Manyal also called upon the authorities for ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in and around the hospital premises.
Important issues such as staff and infrastructural requirements, face lifting of hospitals, academics and many alike were taken up during the meeting and  directions were passed by the Minister in this regard.
The Minister was also apprised about the status of various ongoing works in hospitals.
