Manohar inaugurates work on irrigation tubewell

REASI, Sept 29: Minister of State for Cooperative, Finance, Higher Education, Planning, Stationeries and Printing, Dr. Manohar Lal  Sharma today inaugurated drilling work of  Irrigation tubewell coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 80 lakh  under NABARD scheme at village Badholi in tehsil  Hiranagar of District Kathua.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it was the long pending demand of the people of the area and with the commissioning of the tubewell, the water scarcity in the area would be mitigated to a large extent. He said that   tube will serve the irrigation purpose of about 80 acres land and it will be functional within a period of two months.
While responding to the local demands, the Minister asked PDD to install new transformer and ten electric poles in the area.
Regarding the repair of school building and additional rooms, he said that provision for new building has already been kept in the district plan last year. He directed the ADDC Ajay Singh Jamwal to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, the Minister directed Consumer Affairs Department and Public Distribution Department (CA&PD) to consider the demand of locals with regard to enhancement in ration quota.
He also told PWD Department to look into the demand of   repair of local roads.
Further directions were issued to ADDC, Kathua to review pace of progress on various roads taken up under NABARD and ensure timely completion of the same. Minister also sought the report on the status of work regarding various NABARD schemes under progress in the area.
Earlier, Sarpanch Badohli demanded up-gradation of Governmnet Middle school, Badohli, additional rooms   and repair of existing building, replacement of transformer, two Anganwari centres, land for SC/ST families, five hand pumps, enhancement in ration quota, and twenty five electric poles.
