Manjit slams BJP, NC over political ‘drama’

JAMMU, Sept 2: Provincial president of Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party, Manjit Singh, has criticized the BJP and National Conference (NC) for engaging in "blame game" instead of addressing the pressing problems confronting the people.

Reacting to the BJP's gherao of the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar and the NC's subsequent announcement to gherao BJP headquarters in Jammu and Srinagar over the delay in restoration of statehood, Manjit Singh said the ongoing confrontation appeared aimed at scoring political points rather than providing relief to the people.

He questioned the performance of the BJP's 29 MLAs, saying they should use their position to consistently raise issues concerning unemployment, power and water supply, healthcare, education, roads and rising costs of living.

At the same time, he criticized the NC-led Government for allegedly delaying decisions and shifting responsibility on electoral commitments. He urged the Government to provide a clear roadmap and timeline for fulfilling promises made to voters.

Manjit Singh said both the ruling party and opposition had distinct responsibilities and warned that political demonstrations alone could neither resolve public grievances nor improve people's lives.

He urged BJP and NC to compete in delivering results rather than organizing counter-protests.
