JAMMU, Nov 5: A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with the hook of a ceiling fan at his residence in Janipur area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, the man identified as Rohit Kumar (35) alias Sonu son of Des Raj, a resident of House No-535, Janipur Colony, was found hanging this evening with the hook of a ceiling fan at his home by some neighbour, who informed the police.
On getting information, a police team from police station Janipur led by SHO Janipur, Inspector RS Bahu, reached the spot and shifted the body to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, for conducting autopsy tomorrow.
Quoting neighbours, the officer revealed that the man was mentally disturbed over some issue and was living with his mentally retarded mother in the house while his wife was living with her parents for a quite long time.
He said we have registered a case in this connection and investigations are underway to ascertain the reasons behind such extreme step taken by the man.
