JAMMU, Mar 5: Chatha police arrested a man along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches from Hakkal Morh area here.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chatha police post laid a naka at Hakkal Morh and intercepted a person.
During checking, police recovered 50 pouches of illicit liquor from the possession of the person and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Jasbir Singh alis Tony, son of Harnik Singh, a resident of Govindpur Kullian.
He was smuggling the illicit liquor pouches to his area for sale among the people for illegitimate profits.
A case under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Chatha police post and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Chatha police post SI Krishan Raina made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta, SP South Shaazad Salaria and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
