UDHAMPUR, June 11: The massive fire that broke out in Battal-Kharng-Momaya Devi-Tundi Sala-Pingar forest area of Ramnagar and Udhampur, today engulfed a vast area.
The forest fire has engulfed a large number of small and large trees in an area of around ten square kilometers in the forests of Udhampur at village Battal-Kharng-Momaya Devi-Tundi Sala, Karai Dhar and Baba Karna.
DFO Udhampur Shweta Jandial along with field staff and fire control team were engaged in hectic efforts to control the blazes, which erupted initially in forest compartment 57/s Thalley, Block Ramnagar, early this morning around 05:15am.
The Fire tenders managed to douse flames in outer portion of the forest in Udhampur/Ramnagar but the blazes were still spreading in the interiors.
