Mahila Cong assails Admn for rise in crime against women

JAMMU, Nov 29: Expressing her anger against increasing instances of crimes against women in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, J&K Mahila Congress president and former MLA Indu Pawar today asked the UT Administration to take some effective steps to stop such incidents.
Addressing a function of party workers at Jammu, Pawar called upon them to continue to hold the Government accountable on the issues of women’s atrocities and rising crime.
She alleged that crime against women is increasing continuously in the Union Territory and the women are not feeling safe.
Quoting the latest report of the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), Mahila Congress leader pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir has recorded a 15 percent increase in crimes against women as compared to the previous year.
She said that J&K has recorded a 9.5 percent increase in cognizable offences and there has been a rise of 15 percent in crime cases against women.
As per report, 3,069 crime cases against women were registered in 2019, followed by 3,405 in 2020 and 3,937 in 2021.
Mahila Congress president said that it is the duty of the law enforcing agencies to stop crime against women in J&K. She expressed her anger crime against women has increased during the last some years but authorities have failed to take any effective steps to stop the same.
Indu Pawar, while quoting some incidents, said that the most prominent crime cases against women were an assault on women with the intention to outrage their modesty.
