JAMMU, Nov 5: Higher Education Minister and veteran National Conference leader Mohammad Akbar Lone today came down heavily on PDP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig for trying to equate himself with tallest leader of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.
In a statement issued here, Mr Lone, who happened to be former Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, said Mr Baig stand nowhere in comparison to Sheikh Abdullah, the tallest and most popular leader of Jammu and Kashmir, who had initiated a series of pro-people reforms including land to the tillers, which would always be remembered by the people of the State.
“For past sometime, Mr Baig has been giving certain statements to equate himself with Sheikh Abdullah but the PDP leader must know that he has no mass base while the Sher-i-Kashmir was the tallest personality having a huge following,’’ the Minister said, adding that Mr Baig was only day-dreaming by trying to compare himself with the leader of masses.
“What to say of Mr Baig not even his party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has the stature like that of Sheikh Abdullah,’’ he said.
Mr Lone threatened to expose Mr Baig before the public. “I have evidence about his reality. I will expose him before the public. I will take to the streets and till what Mr Baig has been doing and is doing presently,’’ he said adding that “day dreams of Mr Lone will never be realized’’.
The NC leader charged Mr Baig with trying to project Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in a wrong manner. “This is not acceptable,’’ he said and asked the PDP leader to mend his ways or otherwise get ready to be exposed before the people.
