JAMMU, Mar 9: Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone today ordered attachment of Principal of Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Prof Bhupinder Singh for non-compliance of the directions.
Mr Lone, who conducted surprise inspection of GCET, found that the Principal had not complied with the instructions to shift in new campus, which is complete in all respects.
Taking serious note of the non-compliance of the orders, the Minister ordered attachment of Principal with the Nodal Principal Science College, Jammu with immediate effect. He also issued instructions for handing over the charge of the Principal to the next senior most Professor immediately.
The Minister also paid surprise visit to Government College of Education and checked the attendance register. He found a teacher Reeta Sharma absent from duty unauthorisedly and instructed the Principal of the College to seek an explanation from her and submit report immediately. He made it clear that habitual absentees will have to face stern action.
Mr Lone also visited Government Degree College Paloura and interacted with the family members besides taking stock of its functioning.
Director Colleges, Dr Nalni Kohli accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
