JAMMU, May 23: Shamshaan Enlightenment Welfare Association (SEWA) president, Jagdish Kumar Sharma has demanded locker facility at cremation grounds to keep ashes of the cremated people till these are immersed in holy Ganges.
In a handout Sharma stated that due to the nationwide lockdown triggered by COVID-19 pandemic relatives of the deceased persons are not able to dispose-off the ashes of their dear ones in Ganges at Haridwar. Hence, locker facility is an urgently required at cremation grounds especially at Bhour Camp to keep such ashes till the lockdown is over after which the ashes may be immersed in holy Ganges.
Sharma also said that non availability of lockers is creating problems for the society to keep the ashes so the Government should direct the concerned authorities to provide locker facility at cremation grounds for the purpose.
