REASI, June 26: The residents of Arnas Tehsil today strongly protested against dilapidated condition of the Arnas Market road.
Under the banner of “Team JK Youth Arnas”, they held a protest demonstration and demanded immediate repair work and black topping of the road.
They lamented that the road condition in Arnas Main Market and its nearby area is so bad that residents are coping to live with it and believe to be living in 18th century. They complained that the dilapidated condition of road was causing immense hardships to the commuters and pedestrians.
“The road is in complete shambles with potholes here and there as the administration and Government have failed to macadamize the road. The authorities have failed to repair and subsequently macadamize the road despite repeated pleas,” they added and further said that several people including the children and women have developed respiratory problems due to inhaling of dust emanating from the road.
They protesters further explained that during the rains, these potholes get filled with water making the pedestrian movement extremely difficult. “Private Vehicle owners also complained about increase in the annual maintenance cost of their vehicles and they avoided to ply vehicles on this road, which ultimately causes problem to the locals,” they said and appealed the administration to intervene into the issue and make redressal of their problem at the earliest.
