The event is a step towards making Ladakh a carbon-neutral region. The LG commended EESL’s initiatives for providing energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooking facilities with the aim to adopt green practices to reduce carbon emissions and control pollution in the country. He stated that the introduction of zero-emission energy-efficient solutions will prove beneficial for the environment and also the existence and good health of the people of Ladakh. He also stated that energy-efficient measures will further expedite the development process in Ladakh.
The LG highlighted Pashmina as ‘our traditional product’ and informed about the Administration’s plan to provide zero-emission pens to the nomads to reduce the mortality rate of the kids of Pashmina goats, especially during the winter when Pashmina goats give birth to kids. “Such initiatives are in line with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji’s vision of making Ladakh the first carbon-neutral region in the country,” he said.
