SRINAGAR, Dec 29:  The villagers at Aditrag village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district are living in constant fear as the leopardess which left her three cubs in a house is yet to arrive to take them back.
On Sunday, one person was injured after a leopardess and her three cubs descended from the adjacent mountains and took shelter in a house. The leopard and her cubs took the shelter in the house of Dawood Gorsi. Though the leopardess left the village but she didn’t take her cubs along and since then the locals and Wildlife officials are feeding them.
The villagers told Excelsior that they are living in fear as they apprehend that the leopardess may attack them if she returns. “We fear to move out our houses in the evening as we fear that she may attack us because her cubs are in our village. The Wildlife officials are not making any efforts to locate the leopardess,” they said.
The Wildlife officials have kept the trio in a cage and are on spot since yesterday. An official while denying the allegation of local villagers said that they are monitoring the situation continuously and are surveying the area in search of the leopardess. “If the leopardess didn’t return then we will shift these cubs to forest area and will place them at appropriate place,” he added.
