LBA serves ultimatum for getting back Buddhist girl

LEH, Sept 7: Serving weeklong ultimatum to Administration to get back the Buddhist girl who secretly eloped with a Kargil youth from other community, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) organized a peace protest against the incident and warned to intensify the protests if the girl is not traced and handed over to her parents.
LBA called for complete Leh bandh today to register its protest. Alleging discrimination towards Buddhist community, the protestor also raised slogans against J&K State Government.
LBA president Tsewang Thinles, in his speech, said that communal harmony cannot prevail with one sided efforts and other religions must understand it. He added that neither Buddhist community will allow conversion of other communities to Buddhist family nor Buddhist girl converting to other religion to retain the communal harmony.
LBA vice president PT Kunzang, is his address, said that a Drass resident boy allured a Buddhist girl and the administration was extending support to the duo.
LBA Youth Wing president Rinchen Namgyal alleged that there were few people who had been secretly executing conspiracy towards Buddhist.
LBA Women Wing vice president Tsewang Dolma said that was high time that Government should consider the request of Buddhist community for maintaining communal harmony.
Later LBA also submitted a memorandum   addressed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, through Additional Deputy Commissioner Moses Kunzang who assured to extend all support to resolve the issue amicably.
In the memorandum, LBA has requested all stakeholders to intervene and initiate immediate steps to calm the situation amicably before it gets out of control and engulf the whole of Ladakh region.
